Something for everyone may be cliché, but in the case of Scissortail Park, the saying is true. The 72-acre park, which extends from the downtown core to the banks of the Oklahoma River, includes a 3.7-acre lake, boathouse, café, 5-acre lawn with a main stage and seating for 25,000 people, playgrounds, interactive water fountains, roller rink, picnic grove, woodlands, ornamental gardens, promenades, dog park, event pavilions, and sports courts and fields of all sorts. In total, there are 21 unique areas within the park.
The Hargreaves Jones San Francisco office worked with Landscape Forms and its Studio 431 team to outfit the park with a variety of custom and standard site elements. A wood-clad custom bridge gave Studio 431 an opportunity to showcase its expertise in engineering and manufacturing large, complex designs. Hargreaves Jones’ vision for the 240-foot-long, 12-foot-wide bridge is an elegant, refined design, something that looks like a piece of furniture. The bridge integrates benches and rail lighting.
Projected to host up to 1 million visitors a year, Scissortail Park will be enjoyed by locals and out-of-towner alike.
