Landscape Forms, North America’s leading designer and manufacturer of high-design site furniture, structure, lighting and accessories, is pleased to announce that the company has expanded its offering with design partner Escofet to include six new sculptural concrete site furnishings solutions: Gather modular seating, Petra bioinspired gathering points, Serp modular benches, Soc versatile urban elements, Tiers layered site furnishings and Wave artful modular platforms.

A long-time partner of Landscape Forms, Escofet is an internationally renowned Barcelona-based design firm and leader in the movement to transform and beautify public landscapes. With over a century of mastery and innovation in cast concrete, Escofet is seen as a universal benchmark for the medium, continually pushing the boundaries in terms of form, scale and technological performance.

“Escofet’s mastery of concrete is second to none,” says Landscape Forms Chief Innovation Officer, Kirt Martin.  "From the world-class designers that they partner with, to the incredible forms they’re able to create, to the utmost level of quality they’re able to achieve, they represent the best of the best in their medium."

"Speaking on the strength of the two companies’ partnership, Daniel Milà, Director General at Escofet, says: “The key to the success of our relationship is that we both see the responsibilities of our businesses in the same way—we want to create value via design and quality and, ultimately, produce elements that make for better and easier lives for the citizens of this world. Escofet’s 139-year experience working in concrete creates a heritage that the best designers want to work with, and I think designers see the same in Landscape Forms when it comes to multi-material elements.” Milà continues, “We’re two companies, each with great expertise in our respective areas, but we share the same language of landscape, collaboration, innovation and the elevation of public space.”

A showcase of the cutting edge of Escofet’s design and manufacturing capabilities, each of the six new products in the offering is expressive and unique, merging functional design with public art and opening up innovative new possibilities in the design of outdoor space. While their forms range from geometric to organic, thin and crisp-edged to smooth, flowing and gently rounded, they’re united by Escofet’s distinctive sculptural aesthetic, impeccable craftsmanship, and thoughtful functionality.

"When I see Escofet elements, I see functional sculpture,” describes Landscape Forms Director of Design, Ryan Heiser. "They’re captivating, extremely durable pieces that can live virtually forever in outdoor space. When in use, they’re places for people to sit and play, and when not in use, they’re simply art.”

Offered in the North American market exclusively by Landscape Forms, the six new solutions include Gather, Petra, Serp, Soc, Tiers and Wave. Designed by Foster + Partners Industrial Design, Gather is modular seating system whole fluid, organic forms can be combined in configurations ranging from enclosed pocket spaces, to straight benches, to seating around green islands. Designed by Escofet_lab, Petra includes three monolithic concrete forms inspired by smoothly rounded river rocks and intended to serve as communal seats and meeting points. Also designed by Escofet_lab, Serp is a system of six modular backless benches with optional integrated lighting that, when combined, offer limitless variety in straight, wavy and zig-zagging configurations for seating and space definition. Designed by SCOB, Soc is a line of minimalist yet versatile cylindrical urban elements that can be used as seats, gathering places, boundaries and wayfinding tools with integrated lighting. Designed by Foster + Partners Industrial Design, Tiers is an innovative modular table and bench system whose elements seamlessly join together in configurations for socializing, relaxing, or working in different postures. Designed by Paul Koenen, Wave is an artful concrete seating platform whose undulating surface pattern creates continuous, rhythmic curvature when joined together both linearly and laterally.

"Unique to this curated selection are the pieces’ scale and modularity,” continues Heiser. "They’re undeniably Escofet, large-format, statement elements and yet they can function as extensions of the landscape — adapting to natural features, inspiring design creativity, and achieving a custom, built-in look with the simplicity of a standard solution."

Beginning in 2012, Landscape Forms has been the exclusive North American partner of Escofet, offering a broad collection of its expressive and functional site elements. Escofet and Landscape Forms’ partnership is a natural one — each company shares a respect for design and the contribution of great designers and artists, a focus on craft, and a drive to innovate through materials, techniques, and processes. Escofet and Landscape Forms is a great culture fit,” Heiser says. "They share our same values as company, they’re at the top of the game in concrete, they partner with the best designers, and it’s evident in everything they create."
