In 2019, the Gulf Coast Town Center underwent a refresh that turned underused common spaces into playful, comfortable, and colorful gathering spaces. The retail and entertainment shopping center is now living up to its label as a ‘lifestyle center.’ The West Palm Beach office of design and professional services firm WGI looked to Landscape Forms’ Studio 431 to turn WGI’s concepts into reality.
A sprawling sculptural element−80’ wide, 40’ deep, and 20’ high at its tallest point−has integrated electrical and water systems that create interactive lighting and misting. Studio 431 put its engineering skills to work and determined how to manufacture and powdercoat an element of this scale within its facility. Along with the misting sculpture, a custom trellised shade structure and standard Landscape Forms benches, swings, and tables and chairs give visitors both active and relaxing site elements that are creating a sense of place.
