Enduring Design, Universal Appeal

Rama & Arne lights offer expanded features

Arne’s formal simplicity has international appeal and complements both traditional and contemporary architecture.

Two of Landscape Forms’ best-selling luminaires have been updated with design and performance features that take advantage of modern technologies and materials. The luminaires are designed and manufactured by Barcelona-based Urbidermis Santa & Cole and distributed exclusively in North America by Landscape Forms.

“New technologies and materials led Urbidermis to take a fresh look at Arne and Rama lights,” says Landscape Forms Lighting President Jordan Agustin. The company reengineered the classic fixtures, adding distributions, color temperatures, and LED outputs, but Arne’s classic simplicity and Rama’s distinctive linear form remain the strong statements in the updated luminaires. “The enhancements modernize the best-selling designs and make an excellent product that much better,” states Agustin.

Improving ease of installation and maintenance was another goal for the refresh. Both fixtures feature redesigned mounting brackets that result in simpler one-person installation. Rama’s head now has a door easily accessed by an installer; the interior compartment houses electronics and reserved space for the addition of sensors and controls. The new bracket system adapts to any mount or surface. The LED arrays in both lights have been updated with a modernized design.

Designed by Gonzalo Mila, Rama offers a minimalist design, universal aesthetic, and broad versatility.

“The updates to Rama and Arne speak to Urbidermis' philosophy of designing products for outdoor spaces that have a timelessness and longevity in both function and design,” says Urbidermis' Jordi Munoz.

Rama area lights offer single, double, and multiple luminaires that can mount in different positions on 4.5m-, 6m-, and 8m-high poles. The fixture’s redesigned bracket system includes an adjustable tenon for retrofitting poles. Four asymmetric distributions, four outputs, and color temperatures from 2,700K to 5,000K give lighting designers and landscape architects tools to create a broad range of pedestrian and streetscape applications.

Arne offers multiple functions and styles for a range of applications, including an indirect mount light.

Arne lights offer single, double, and multiple luminaires mounted to a pole or arms in 4.5m, 6.0m, 8.0m, and 10m pole heights. Wall mount and catenary options are also available. Eight distribution types, including flood lighting, and 18 and 36 LED configurations, 3000K and 4000K color temperatures, clear and diffused lenses, and multiple drive currents are among Arne’s options. Arne’s indirect mount light now offers a single luminaire with a clear lens and tilted shield mounted at 5m or 5.8m, symmetric and asymmetric distribution types, 18 and 36 LED configurations, 3000K and 4000K color temperatures, and 500 and 700 mA drive currents. Arne S fixtures were not included in these latest updates.

Arne and Rama’s expanded features give lighting and landscape designers a greater range of choices.

“Urbidermis has a strong design pedigree,” Vice President of Marketing and Design and Chief Creative Officer Kirt Martin says. “It brings a uniquely European aesthetic to our offering, and its partnerships with industrial designers from around the world enhance the products we offer our North American customers.”
