Landscape Forms Elevates the Transit Experience with Connect 2.0 Shelter

Kalamazoo, MI – April 30, 2018 - Landscape Forms, North America’s leading designer and manufacturer of high-design LED lighting, site furniture, and accessories, introduces the Connect 2.0 shelter, the result of a partnership between BMW Group Designworks and Landscape Forms. “Connect 2.0 is a refreshing addition to the Metro 40 Collection, an already successful line of transit elements,” says Landscape Forms President Richard Heriford. “It also reinforces a longstanding and prolific partnership with BMW Group Designworks.”

Connect 2.0 shelter’s minimalist aluminum structure complements surrounding architecture and on- or off-the-grid layered LED lighting offers a visually welcoming and comfortable experience. “Designworks focuses on the total experience of transportation,” says Vice President of Design and Marketing Kirt Martin. “Good design solves a problem, and the Connect 2.0 shelter elevates the transit experience with its simple, calming form and integrated, innovative LED lighting that illuminates the shelter with beauty and warmth.”
“With the design of the Metro 40 Collection we set out to convey a personal atmosphere to anonymous public areas and to make the use of public transport a pleasant, relaxing experience”, says Tobias Adami, Creative Director at BMW Group Designworks. “The Connect Shelter 2.0 with its sophisticated form, innovative automotive inspired lighting solutions and great variety of roofings is a logical aesthetic and functional advancement that increases the modularity of the entire Metro 40 collection”, he continues.
The ADA-compliant shelter is available in two sizes and with multiple tempered glass and open panel configurations. Tempered glass, honeycomb aluminum panel, and aluminum louvered roof options create unique design statements that also address site requirements and climate conditions.
Metro 40 is a comprehensive collection of streetscape and transit elements developed in partnership with BMW Group Designworks. For over 10 years, the Metro 40 Collection, from shelters and LED lighting to benches, bollards, rails, litter receptacles, and bike racks, has outfitted transit spaces with sophistication and global appeal.
